The first ever LGBT cricket match will take place in Birmingham on May 23. London Grace will play against the Birmingham Unicorns. The referee of the upcoming match Rob Evans shared his expectations from the upcoming game.

“I came out late enough and always felt that there are two parts in my life that never touch. I didn’t know about LGBT clubs until I heard about Grace. Then I found out about unicorns and thought: “Wow, that’s cool!”. I am very emotional about this game and will be very proud when the day of the match comes.

I think things are changing for the better. The match enjoys great support, including from the cricket federations of England and Wales. I want both teams to develop. Hopefully we won’t have to wait another 25 years for a third such club to appear, ”Evans said.
